WORKAROUND - It looks like if I only comment on the mobile version, the callouts appear pretty consistently. There may be some elements that cause breakage, but by being aware that this is possible and only commenting on the mobile version, the callouts look good on the desktop view when you switch to it. I find when I comment on desktop, the callouts are more likely to get lost. For the way I work, I think think they’ll mostly respond to my callouts with comments rather than placing callouts themselves. So I think it probably works well enough to use with clients.

I’m testing the live site function with a dummy client. I added comment 1 to the desktop. Then I switched to mobile view and it was invisible. So i duplicated my comment on the mobile version, comment 2. Then I toggled back to the desktop version. Even though I put comment 2 dead center on the mobile version, this is what the comments look like. Two of the same comments appear on desktop, while only one comment (comment 2) appears on mobile. This is quite confusing and frankly not ready for prime time. How are clients going to deal with partially visible, duplicate, invisible and disappearing comments as a way of reviewing feedback on their sites?
This is a cool idea and I’d love to make it a selling point of my service that clients can have absolute clarity and context by seeing feedback on their live sites. However, if it is totally capricious in how well it works or if the annotations can even be seen, I can’t make that claim.

Sometimes it’s totally invisible or almost invisible.
