Client Home Page/Dashboard within Portal

I’d like to control the dashboard or home for the client when they arrive at the portal. I want there to be onboarding questions, a welcome message, a how to video immediately accessible without digging into tasks or seeing a calendar or something else. I want to control what they see first and teach them how to navigate easily and efficiently.

Just reporting back I’ve solved this using cover images on tasks which I’m quite satisfied with. An image with START HERE directs people to instructions on how to use their workspace and explains where to find their onboarding tasks if they close them. An image that looks like a video with a play button shows a demo video, an image with their primary task request makes it clear what we’re working on in an easy to understand graphic way. I’d love a blog series on how others are using Queue most effectively. Keep up the good work! 💪

@Matt Gelgota Have you taken a look at the Client Onboarding Checklist feature? This will be shown to them automatically when they login.

By default we send them to their project board if they have one. We do this because clients wants to get to the point as soon as possible.

Thanks for your reply. I am using the checklist feature. I’m concerned that it gets lost easily and disappears entirely on the calendar view.

I invited 4 small business owners from a mastermind group to test the portal with me and in spite of having an onboarding checklist set up, no one found it and all reported they didn’t know where to go or what to do.

I created a new test project and the onboarding checklist is just the little circle in the lower right corner. There’s nothing that directs the eye to it. I think the first thing that stands out is the “+New Request” button on the right or the “+ New” button in the In Queue column. The onboarding questions really get lost. Even on hover there’s no tooltip explaining what’s in the 0% circle.

I’d like it to be completely unmissable that X is the START HERE location and that clients can return to X for info on how the portal works if they get lost or confused.

Maybe just starting with the onboarding questions open would be enough.

I’ll make sure to state that the chat widget circle is where to find help in my onboarding video. It’s good that the chat circle is always on the bottom of pages.

I agree about putting people into a project and task board view as a starting point if there’s no landing page. I find the calendar view much less relevant and am often shown it, but maybe if I had several clients and projects that’d be a good admin default.

Smaller point, the chat widget is not fully in my brand colors. The 0% is one color and then the tic boxes have a different blue neither of which are my brand colors, although my highlight yellow color does appear.
